Platform Development
As the lead for the development of the Dengue Resource Catalog platform within Takeda Pharmaceuticals' Vaccine Business Unit, I was responsible for creating a centralized, user-friendly digital platform designed to provide Takeda employees with access to critical resources and information about our dengue vaccine product (TAK-003). This project was a key initiative to support Takeda’s mission of addressing global health challenges and advancing the understanding of dengue disease both forv patients, HCPs, and infectious diseases community. My role involved close collaboration with the medical affairs team and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the platform met the needs of its target audience while aligning with Takeda’s strategic objectives to combat dengue disease in both endemic and travel markets.
High-level execution and approach:
Strategic planning and requirements gathering
I began by working with the medical affairs team and other cross-functional stakeholders to define the challenges that the platform should address, platform’s objectives, access management, target audience, and key functionalities. The goal was to create a comprehensive resource hub that would serve as a trusted source of information for global and local teams supporting their clinical decision-making and patient education efforts.
User-Centered Design and Development
Leveraging my expertise in user experience (UX) design, I ensured the platform was intuitive, accessible, and visually appealing. I led and collaborated with a team of designers and developers to create wireframes and prototypes, focusing on optimizing navigation and ensuring the platform was responsive across devices. The design emphasized ease of use while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
Content Integration, Migration, and Management
I coordinated with content owners and medical experts to migrate, curate, and integrate MRL-approved documents, scientific resources, publications, presentations, abstracts, posters, etc. into the platform. Using a robust Drupal content management system (CMS), I ensured that the platform could be easily updated, maintained, and evolved with new features and functionalities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Throughout the project, I worked closely with teams across medical affairs, commercial, regulatory, legal, and DD&T (Digital, Data & Technology) teams to ensure alignment on goals and seamless integration of the platform into Takeda’s digital ecosystem. Regular feedback sessions and iterative development cycles (product roadmap) were key to addressing challenges and refining the platform.
Testing and Optimization
Before the platform’s launch, I conducted extensive usability testing with a sample of internal employees to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement. This iterative process allowed me to fine-tune the platform’s functionality and user experience, ensuring it met the needs of its audience.
Launch and Post-Launch Support
The Dengue Resource Catalog was successfully launched internally, providing Takeda employees with easy access (Single Sign-On) to valuable resources. Post-launch, I monitored user engagement and analytics to identify opportunities for further optimization and ensure the platform continued to deliver value to its users.
Results and impact:
The Dengue Resource Catalog (DRC) platform became a cornerstone of Takeda’s digital ecosystem. The platform received positive feedback for its usability and comprehensive content about our dengue vaccine candidate (TAK-003). This project demonstrated my ability to lead complex digital initiatives, collaborate across diverse teams, and deliver impactful solutions that align with both user needs and organizational goals.
